Late Run Lifts Blue Jays Over Golden Wolves, 10-9

Elizabethtown, Pa. (February 28, 2026) - Alvernia University (1-3) dropped a closely contested non-conference women's lacrosse matchup to Elizabethtown College (2-0), 10-9, Saturday afternoon at Elizabethtown's Wolf Field. 

The Golden Wolves held a three goal, 6-3, advantage at the half but the Blue Jays outscored the Golden Wolves 7-3 in the final 30 minutes of action en route to the victory. 

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves and the Blue Jays went scoreless over the first nine minutes of action before Alvernia struck first with a Hannah Tyler goal thanks to an assist from Lindsay Kerchner to put Alvernia up 1-0. 
  • Alvernia doubled its lead two minutes later when Kerchner scratched her name on the scoresheet with an unassisted goal to make it a 2-0 Alvernia lead with three minutes to play in the first quarter. 
  • The Blue Jays got on the board in the final minute of the first quarter to cut the Alvernia lead in half, 2-1, after the first 15 minutes of play. 
  • The Golden Wolves came out in the second quarter hot and netted a goal in the first 14 seconds of the quarter thanks to a Mia Martin goal to push the lead back to two, 3-1. 
  • Elizabethtown responded almost immediately with a goal 15 seconds later to pull within one but Alvernia bounced back with another Martin goal five minutes later to make it a 4-2 Alvernia advantage. 
  • The Blue Jays answered the Golden Wolves yet again with another goal shortly after Alvernia's to pull back within one, 4-3, with under nine minutes to play in the first half. 
  • Alvernia would go on to end the first half with two goals in the final five minutes of play thanks to goals from Makenna Thomas and Grace Weissenberger to give the Golden Wolves a 6-3 advantage heading into the halftime break. 
  • The Golden Wolves pushed their lead to four, 7-3, after another Tyler goal two minutes into the second half but the Blue Jays responded with five straight goals over the next 12 minutes of play to tie the game at seven. 
  • Alvernia responded yet again though with Tyler's third goal of the game in the final 36 seconds of the third quarter to send the Golden Wolves into the final quarter of play with a one goal, 8-7, lead. 
  • Elizabethtown would stay hot and rattled off three goals in a row throughout the first 12 minutes of the fourth quarter to grab its first lead of the game, 10-8, with three minutes to play in the game. 
  • The Golden Wolves made a late push to tie the game after Martin recorded her third goal of the game but it was not enough as the Blue Jays secured the 10-9 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

Inside the Box Score 
  • Hannah Tyler and Mia Martin both led the way for the Golden Wolves on the offensive side of the ball with both Martin and Tyler netting hat tricks. Tyler also recorded two draw controls, one caused turnover and three ground balls. 
  • Grace Weissenberger led the Golden Wolves in points with a four point performance off one goal and three assists. 
  • Makenna Thomas and Lindsay Kerchner both tallied a goal and an assist on the day and Thomas led the Golden Wolves with nine draw controls. 
  • Cailyn Hawley led the Alvernia defense with three caused turnovers and four ground ball pickups. 
  • Alvernia's Addison Bolz continued to rack up saves in net for the Golden Wolves and tallied a career high 21 saves in net for Alvernia. Bolz has tallied 47 saves through her first four games as a Golden Wolf with an average of 11.75 saves per game.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Glenside to take on Arcadia in a MAC Commonwealth/Freedom crossover matchup at Arcadia's Jean Lenox West Field. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
