Reading, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2026) - Arcadia University (15-4-2, 13-3-1) erupted for four third period goals to down Alvernia University (10-9, 9-8), 7-1, on Friday night in MAC Women's Ice Hockey action at Body Zone.
The Knights took a 2-0 lead early before Alvernia got on the board to make it a 2-1 game through the first half of the first period. After an even second period, the Knights took a 3-1 lead with a late power-play goal in the second frame. The Knights then scored three goals in the opening six minutes of the third period to take a 6-1 lead, and added one more later in the period for the 7-1 final.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead just under two minutes into the contest and made it a 2-0 game on a power-play goal with 11 minutes left in the opening frame. Alvernia got one back on a goal from Emma Hart just 20 seconds later to make it a 2-1 game. The Golden Wolves killed off two penalties to close out the second half of the period and stay within one, 2-1, going into the second period.
The Golden Wolves came out of the first break firing on net, but Arcadia was able to hold off Alvernia. The Golden Wolves were awarded a power-play opportunity midway through the period, but were only able to get just one shot off on net. The Knights were then awarded a power-play with about four minutes to play in the second period, and Arcadia needed just 32 seconds to convert and take a 3-1 lead. The Knights took the 3-1 lead into the final frame.
The Knights came out of the break firing, scoring three goals in just under six minutes to take a 6-1 lead with 14 minutes to play. The Knights' first of the three goals to start the period came short-handed, while the other two came at even strength. Alvernia finished the period out-shooting the Knights on net, but Arcadia scored the final goal of the game with three and a half minutes to play to take the 7-1 win.
Emma Hart was Alvernia's lone point-scorer of the game with her first period goal. Addy Gularte and Kayla Moriarty finished with a team-high two blocks. Kathryn Palmer led Alvernia on the faceoff, going 8-for-12. Juju Rodgers finished with 21 saves in net. Arcadia's Kianna Saliant finished with a three-goal performance to lead the Knights. Gabby Meger finished with 27 saves in net for Arcadia.
The Golden Wolves are back in action on the road tomorrow at Hood for a 7:00 PM game. The series is currently tied at 1-1 after the Golden Wolves and Blazers split their weekend series earlier in January. The Golden Wolves hold a two point advantage over Hood for fourth place in MAC standings.
