McDaniel Tops Alvernia, 10-7

Reading, Pa. (March 11, 2026) - McDaniel College (5-3) scored six goals in the second half en route to a 10-7 victory over Alvernia University (3-2) Wednesday night in a rainy non-conference men's lacrosse matchup on Alvernia's Turf Field.

The game entered a lightning delay at 7:10 PM with 5:11 to play in the first quarter and did not resume until 8:35 PM. Alvernia held a 3-0 lead at that point but McDaniel came out of the delay hot and rattled off four of the next five goals of the half to send the game to halftime tied at four. The Golden Wolves then grabbed the lead back after two goals in 34 seconds made it an 6-5 Alvernia lead but McDaniel bounced back with five of the next six goals of the game en route to the victory.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves went up 3-0 in the first ten minutes of the contest after Zackary Moats netted an unassisted goal to open things up and Jimmy Sparacio netted two goals in two minutes to put Alvernia up three before the delay.
  • McDaniel then came out of the delay hot and got on the board in the final two seconds of the first quarter to make it 3-1.
  • The Green Terror stayed aggressive and netted three goals in the first eight minutes of the second quarter to swing the lead in their favor, 4-3.
  • The Golden Wolves and the Green Terror went scoreless over the next seven minutes of the game before Connor Stockton assisted Moats with nine seconds left in the half to tie the game at four heading to the halftime break.
  • McDaniel took the lead back five minutes into the half with an unassisted goal from Will Swiatek but Alvernia responded with two goals from Jack Natyshak and Sparacio within 34 seconds of each other to swing it back in favor of the Golden Wolves, 6-5, with eight minutes to play in the third.
  • McDaniel then answered again with two goals over the next two minutes of play to take the lead again, 7-6, with six minutes to go in the quarter.
  • Alvernia's Moats netted his third goal of the game a minute and a half later to tie the game at seven but McDaniel came right back and scored a goal in the final two minutes of the third quarter to take a one goal, 8-7, advantage into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • McDaniel netted the only two goals of the fourth quarter and held the Golden Wolves scoreless over the final 15 minutes of action to secure the 10-7 victory over the Golden Wolves.
