Natyshak, Sparacio Lead Golden Wolves Past Colonels, 13-8

Wilkes Barre, Pa. (March 18, 2026) - Alvernia University (5-2) netted eight goals in the second half en route to a five goal, 13-8 victory over Wilkes University (3-5) Wednesday night in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup at Wilkes. 

The Golden Wolves held a two goal lead after the first quarter but the Colonels netted five goals in the second quarter to send the game into the halftime break tied at five. Alvernia then rattled off four goals in the third and fourth quarters and held Wilkes to three goals in the second half en route to the victory. 

How it Happened 
  • The Golden Wolves got on the board first just two minutes into the game after Jack Natyshak connected with Jimmy Sparacio to put Alvernia up 1-0. 
  • Alvernia doubled its lead four minutes later after Sparacio netted his second goal of the evening to put the Golden Wolves up 2-0. 
  • Both teams went scoreless over the next nine minutes of the first quarter as the Golden Wolves took a two goal lead into the second quarter. 
  • The Colonels came out of the quarter break and rattled off three goals in the first six minutes of the second quarter to swing the lead in their favor, 3-2, with just under nine minutes to go. 
  • Alvernia hit back right away with a goal from Ethan McManus 12 seconds later to tie the game at three a piece. The Golden Wolves then grabbed the lead two minutes later after a Natyshak unassisted goal made it a 4-3 Alvernia lead. 
  • Alvernia's Keegan Driscoll then pushed the lead to two, 5-3, after he scored on a man-up opportunity with six minutes to go in the half but the Colonels then rattled off two goals in the next two minutes to send the game to the half tied at five. 
  • The Golden Wolves came out of the half flying and grabbed the lead back with two goals in the first minute and a half of the second half to put Alvernia back in the lead, 7-5. 
  • Wilkes grabbed one back six minutes later to pull within one, 7-6, but the Golden Wolves responded with two more goals from Sparacio and Natyshak to push their lead to three, 9-6. 
  • The Colonels netted one more goal before the end of the third quarter to make it a two goal, 9-7, game. 
  • The Golden Wolves pushed the lead to three after a goal to open up the fourth quarter but the Colonels answered with a man-up goal to keep it a two goal Alvernia lead, 10-8, heading to the final six minutes of the game. 
  • Alvernia rattled off three goals in the final six minutes of the contest to secure the five goal, 13-8 victory over the Colonels. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Jimmy Sparacio led the way for the Golden Wolves with a seven point performance with four goals and three assists. Sparacio also picked up six ground balls. 
  • Jack Natyshak netted a hat trick and tacked on three assists as well for a six point performance, the best of his career. Natyshak caused one turnover and tallied five shots on goal. 
  • Keegan Driscoll netted two goals and dished out an assist and Charles Oberman scored two goals. 
  • Zackary Moats rounded out the Golden Wolves with a multi-point game with a goal and an assist and also picked up five ground balls and caused a turnover. Ethan McManus rounded out the Alvernia goal scorers with a goal and also caused a turnover. 
  • Jack Kenney recorded 19 wins on the faceoff and went 19-24 on the evening. Kenney also scooped up 14 ground balls. 
  • Nathan Byrne tallied seven saves in net for the Golden Wolves and earned the win in goal.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action on Saturday at 1:00 PM when they take on Lebanon Valley at home. Alvernia will also be honoring its 2026 Senior Class prior to the contest.
