Winchester, Pa. (March 22, 2026) - #7 Shenandoah University (19-3) defeated Alvernia University (7-8), 16-3, in eight innings on Sunday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Shenandoah University.

After a scoreless first inning, the Hornets posted a six spot in the second inning to break the game open. The Hornets plated six runs on five hits - including a two-run homer - to take the 6-0 lead. Shenandoah then took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a solo homer.

Alvernia got two runs back in the top of the fifth on a home run of its own as Jake Chapman sent a shot over the right center wall. Chapman's homer also scored Christopher Babkowski, who led off the inning with a single through the left side.

The Hornets pushed their lead back up to six in the bottom of the sixth. Shenandoah's first two batters of the inning reached on walks, and one came home on a single to the right gap to make it an 8-2 game.

Alvernia got another run back in the top of the eighth on a Logan Nelson double that scored Bobby Hansen, who led off with a single. But, the Hornets broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth. The Hornets loaded the bases without an out on the board. The Hornets scored four runs on three walks and a single to push their lead to nine, 12-3. Shenandoah then hit a walk-off grand slam to plate four more runs and enforce the run-rule as the game ended in the eighth with Shenandoah taking the 16-3 win.
