Golden Wolves Fall to #5 Cougars, 13-2

Reading, Pa. (March 26, 2026) - Alvernia University (8-9) dropped a non-conference baseball matchup to #5 Kean University (14-4-1), 13-2, Thursday evening down in Angelica Park.

The Golden Wolves and the Cougars went scoreless over the first two frames before Kean tallied two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one more in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Golden Wolves grabbed a run back in the bottom of the fifth but the Cougars then tallied three runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings en route to the victory.

How it Happened
  • Kean struck first in the top of the third inning after an RBI double plated the first run of the ball game and then executed a first and third steal play with two outs to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Cougars added runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-0 lead after an RBI single through the left side scored a run and a sacrifice fly plated another run to make it a four run ballgame.
  • Alvernia got on the board in the home half of the fifth inning after Timmy Hitchcock singled down the left field line and scored Max Hansen to make it a 4-1 game.
  • Kean then went on to rattle off three runs in the next three innings of the game to extend its lead to 12, 13-1, heading to the ninth inning.
  • The Golden Wolves scored one run in the bottom of the ninth thanks to an RBI single to right center scored Alex Bartlett Jr. but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves fell to the Cougars, 13-2.
