Alvernia Splits With Stevenson

Owings Mills, Md. (March 28, 2026) - Alvernia University (9-11, 3-6) split a MAC Commonwealth baseball doubleheader with Stevenson University (8-9, 2-7) Saturday afternoon at Stevenson.

The Mustangs took game one by a score of 5-4 and secured the series victory over the Golden Wolves after taking Friday's game. The Golden Wolves then bounced back and rattled off 20 hits and scored 12 runs en route to a 12-4 victory in game three to grab one game in the Commonwealth series.

Game 1: Stevenson: 5, Alvernia: 4

How it Happened
  • Alvernia got ahead early in game one and scored four runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead. Max Hansen recorded the first run of the day after stealing third and then was able to score on a Stevenson throwing error to make it 1-0. Harold Ivery III then pulled a two RBI double down the right field line to score Bobby Hansen and Timmy Hitchcock to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
  • Alvernia added one more in the top of the fourth inning after Will Woodring and Logan Nelson executed a safety squeeze which allowed Nelson to score and push the Alvernia lead to 4-0.
  • Stevenson started to chip away with a run in the bottom of the second inning and a run in the fourth inning to cut the Alvernia lead to two, 4-2, after four innings.
  • The Mustangs then swung the lead in their favor after a three run fifth inning put them up one, 5-4. The Mustangs tallied an RBI single and a two RBI single up the middle to make it a 5-4 ballgame in favor of the Mustangs.
  • The Golden Wolves had a chance to tie the game in the top of the seventh after Bobby Hansen and Logan Nelson got on base and brought up Will Woodring with runners on first and second with two outs. Woodring singled to left field and the Golden Wolves sent home Hansen to try and tie the game but the Stevenson left fielder made a good throw to cut Hansen down at the plate, end the game and secure the 5-4 victory in game two of the Commonwealth series.
