Golden Wolves Drop Non-Conference Matchup to Greyhounds, 11-7

Reading, Pa. (March 29, 2026) - Moravian University (8-9) scored nine runs in the top of the eighth inning en route to a 11-7 victory over Alvernia University (9-12) Sunday afternoon in a non-conference baseball matchup in Angelica Park.

The Golden Wolves held a 7-2 advantage over the Greyhounds before Moravian tallied nine runs in the eighth to take the lead and secure the victory.

How it Happened
  • The Greyhounds grabbed the early lead in the top of the third inning after an RBI triple into the right center gap scored a run and an RBI groundout scored another run and gave Moravian an early 2-0 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves responded right away with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a one run lead. After the Golden Wolves loaded the bases, left fielder Mike Mele stepped into the box and laced a bases clearing, three RBI double into the left center gap to put the Golden Wolves in the lead, 3-2.
  • Alvernia then kept things going in the home half of the fourth inning and tallied three more runs to extend the lead to five, 7-2. Mike Pulcini drove in Bobby Hansen with an RBI single through the left side before two more Alvernia runs scored via a Moravian error to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
  • The Golden Wolves tacked on a seventh run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hansen drove in Harold Ivery III with an RBI single to center to make it a five run, 7-2, Alvernia lead.
  • The Greyhounds then recorded a nine run eighth inning to grab the lead over the Golden Wolves. Moravian tallied a three RBI double that tied the game at seven and then scored four more runs off of bases loaded walks or hit by pitches. Moravian then capped the nine run inning with an RBI single through the left side to make it an 11-7 ballgame.
