Golden Wolves Take Series, Split Doubleheader With Eagles

St. Davids, Pa. (April 11, 2026) - Alvernia University (14-17, 6-9) secured the MAC Commonwealth baseball series victory over Eastern University (21-10, 8-7) with a victory in game two of the series but dropped game three Saturday at Eastern.

The Golden Wolves took game one of the doubleheader and secured the series victory over the Eagles with an 8-1 victory behind a complete game, one run outing from senior lefthander Nick Ferraioli. Alvernia then fell in game three of the series, 4-0, but still took the Commonwealth series, 2-1.

Game One (7 innings): Alvernia 8, Eastern 1

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves got to work early, plating three runs in the top of the first. Max Hansen led off the game with a single up the middle and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Jack Zabarsky then reached on an error as Hanswen advanced to third. A double to left field by Timmy Hitchcock scored Hansen, and Zabarsky came around to score on a sac fly by Will Woodring. Hitchcock then scored on a throwing error to give Alvernia the 3-0 lead.
  • Eastern got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on an RBI single to the left gap to get on the board, 3-1.
  • The Golden Wolves broke the game open in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on five hits and an Eastern error. Jake Chapman led off the inning by reaching on an error, and advanced to third on a Mike Pulcini double down the third base line. Chapman then came around and scored on a Max Hansen single through the left side, and Pulcini came in to score on a wild pitch to give Alvernia the 5-1 lead without an out on the board.
  • After the Eagles got their first out of the inning, Max Hansen scored for Alvernia on another Eastern wild pitch. Hitchcock and Harold Ivery III both reached on singles, and Hitchcock came around to score on a groundout by Bobby Hansen. A Christopher Babkowski single to left field capped off the inning for Alvernia, bringing in Ivery and giving Alvernia the 8-1 lead going into the sixth.
  • Nick Ferraioli on the mound for Alvernia allowed just one hit the rest of the way to finish off a stellar outing for the senior. Ferraioli went the distance for Alvernia on the mound, striking out nine batters and scattering just four hits and one run.
