Falcons Down Golden Wolves, 19-7

Grantham, Pa. (April 11, 2026) - Messiah University (6-5, 2-1) outscored Alvernia University (7-5, 1-2) 10-3 in the second half en route to a 19-7 win over the Golden Wolves on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Messiah.

The Golden Wolves trailed by just two goals going into the second quarter. But, the Falcons distanced themselves in the second, out scoring Alvernia 4-1 in the second frame. Alvernia got back within four, 9-5, to open the second half. But, Messiah pulled away in the final 29 minutes to take the 19-7 win over Alvernia.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia opened the scoring with a goal by Jack Natyshak four minutes into the contest. Messiah answered and evened the game at 1-1 two minutes later, and tacked on two more over the next three minutes to take the 3-1 lead through ten minutes of play.
  • The Golden Wolves got back within one, 3-2, on a goal by Jimmy Sparacio, but Messiah retook the two goal lead, 4-2, less than a minute later. Alvernia again got within one, 4-3, on a man-up goal by Keegan Driscoll with just under two minutes to play in the quarter. The Falcons had the final say of the opening frame and took a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Falcons rattled off three straight goals to open up the second quarter and take an 8-3 lead ten minutes to play in the frame. A man-up goal by Sparacio put an end to the run, but the Falcons scored one more in the quarter to take a 9-4 lead into the half.
  • Alvernia came out of the break and got back within four, 9-5, on a goal by Sparacio within the first minute of the quarter. The Falcons answered with a pair of goals over the four minutes to push their lead to six, 11-5, with just under nine minutes to play in the quarter.
  • Alvernia found the back of the net on a goal by Connor Stockton off the assist of Driscoll to get within five, 11-6, with 5:42 to play in the third. But, the Falcons outscored Alvernia 8-1 the rest of the way to pull away from Alvernia. Alvernia's final goal came in the middle of Messiah's run and was off the stick of Charles Oberman with four minutes to play in the game. Messiah scored three more in the final four minutes for the 19-7 win.
