Eagles Down Golden Wolves, 23-11

Reading, Pa. (April 15, 2026) - Eastern University (3-11, 2-2) used an eight goal second quarter and a ten goal second half en route to a 23-11 victory over Alvernia University (7-6, 1-3) Wednesday evening in a MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse matchup at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves and Eagles were in a high scoring battle in the first quarter with Eastern holding a 5-4 lead after the first 15 minutes. Eastern then rattled off eight goals in the second quarter to take a 13-5 lead into the half and then outscored the Golden Wolves 10-6 in the second half to secure the victory.

How it Happened
  • Eastern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the first quarter but the Golden Wolves responded with three goals over the next two minutes to take a 3-2 lead. Defender Christian Wright got the Golden Wolves on the board after he saw the Eastern goalie out of goal and ripped a goal from about 70 yards out and into the back of the net to pull the Golden Wolves within one.
  • Alvernia's Jimmy Sparacio then netted two goals within 12 seconds of each other to put Alvernia in the lead, 3-2.
  • Eastern bounced back with two goals over the next three minutes to take the lead back, 4-3, but Sparacio answered again for Alvernia with an unassisted goal to tie the game at four. Sparacio's third goal of the game also came as his 100th career point as a Golden Wolf.
  • The Eagles netted one final goal in the high scoring first quarter to take a 5-4 lead into the second quarter.
  • Eastern then packed onto its lead in the second quarter and rattled off eight straight goals over the first 12 minutes of the second quarter to take a 13-4 lead.
  • Alvernia's Joseph Mullen found the back of the net thanks to a Charles Oberman assist in the final two minutes of the half but the Eagles still held a 13-5 lead heading into halftime break.
  • The Golden Wolves came out firing in the second half and netted three goals in the first five minutes of the quarter after Carson Coleman assisted Sparacio and Oberman assisted Connor Stoockton to pull the GOlden Wolves within five, 13-8.
  • The Eagles responded to the Alvernia run and rattled off five of the next seven goals in the quarter and pushed their lead to eight, 18-10, heading to the final quarter.
  • Eastern sealed the victory with five goals in the first 12 minutes of the fourth quarter to make it a 23-10 game.
  • Alvernia's Wright added his second goal of the game in the final two minutes of the contest.
