Mustangs Run by Golden Wolves, 24-9

Owings Mills, Md. (April 18, 2026) - Alvernia University (7-7, 1-4) fell to Stevenson University (6-8, 5-1), 24-9, on Saturday night in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Stevenson.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the first five minutes before Alvernia got on the board with a goal by Jimmy Sparacio with 6:21 to play in the quarter. Stevenson netted three more goals before a goal by Jack Natyshak closed out the quarter and made it a 5-2 game in favor of the Mustangs going into the second.

A goal by Charles Oberman off the assist of Natyshak opened the second quarter and brought Alvernia within two, 5-3, a minute into the second frame. But, Stevenson rattled off five straight goals in just under three minutes to take a 10-3 lead. Alvernia put an end to the run with a goal by Sparacio.

The scoring slowed, and, after a nearly five minute scoreless stretch, Stevenson got back on the board with five minutes to play in the quarter to take an 11-4 lead. Alvernia got one back as Jackson Schools scored off the assist of goalie Nathan Byrne a minute later. Stevenson scored the final three of the half to take a 14-5 lead going into the break.

Sparacio opened the second half with a goal 32 seconds into the third quarter. But, Alvernia was held scoreless the remainder of the quarter as Stevenson built its lead up to 16, 22-6, going into the fourth.

After nine minutes of scoreless action to open the fourth quarter, Alvernia scored three straight goals off the sticks of Ethan McManus, Sparacio, and Keegan Driscoll. Stevenson scored a quick two goals in response to close out the game and take the 24-9 win.

Alvernia's nine goals marks the most Alvernia has ever scored against Stevenson.

Sparacio led Alvernia with four goals. Jack Natyshak finished with two points off of a goal and an assist. Nathan Byrne finished with 18 saves in net. 

Alvernia is back in action on Wednesday at Widener before returning home for its season finale against York on Saturday.
