Golden Wolves Down Pride, 11-9

Chester, Pa. (April 22, 2026) - Alvernia University (8-7, 2-4) took down Widener University (3-12, 1-5), 11-9, Wednesday evening in a MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse matchup at Widener's Quick Stadium.

The victory for the Golden Wolves is the eighth of the year which sets a new program record for most wins in a season. The victory also marked the second MAC Commonwealth win, which is also a program best, and was the first win over Widener in program history.

The Pride held the lead at the halftime break, 5-3, but the Golden Wolves bounced back with a four goal third quarter and four more in the fourth en route to the 11-9 victory over the Pride.

How it Happened
  • Widener got out to a hot start and netted the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 lead after the first seven minutes of play.
  • The Golden Wolves hit back with two goals of their own after Jimmy Sparacio and Charles Oberman both scored unassisted goals to tie the game at two with five minutes to play.
  • Widener netted the final goal of the first quarter to take a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Pride then added to the lead with two goals throughout a slow second quarter and pushed the lead to three, 5-2.
  • The Golden Wolves grabbed one back in the final 30 seconds of the half after Jack Natyshak found the back of the net but the Pride still held a two goal, 5-3, advantage at the half.
  • Widener grabbed the first goal of the second half to push the lead back to three, 6-3, but the Golden Wolves answered with four straight goals to end the third quarter and take the 7-6 lead. Connor Stockton netted two goals during the stretch, including the game tying goal and Sparacio and Oberman both netted goals as well for the Golden Wolves.
  • The Pride leveled the score in just over a minute into the fourth quarter but Alvernia answered again after Keegan Driscoll connected with Natyshak to give the Golden Wolves the lead back, 8-7.
  • Alvernia then tacked on another when Driscoll found the back of the net to make it a 9-7 Alvernia lead.
  • Widener pulled one back with just under eight minutes to go in the game but Alvernia's Ethan McManus netted back to back goals over the next three minutes to extend the Alvernia lead to three, 11-8.
  • The Pride tallied one final goal with just over three minutes to go in the game but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the 11-9 victory over the Pride.
