Alvernia Falls to #15 Messiah

Reading, Pa. (April 11, 2026) - Alvernia University (2-11, 0-3) fell to #15/20 Messiah University (9-4, 3-0), 20-6, on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse action at Alvernia. 

The Falcons jumped out to an 8-0 lead through the first eight minutes of action. Alvernia got on the board with a goal by Lindsay Kerchner off the assist of Grace Weissenberger with ten seconds to play in the opening quarter.

Messiah pushed its lead to 10-1 through the first four minutes of the second quarter. Alvernia then put up back-to-back goals from Hannah Tyler and Makenna Thomas, both of which were assisted by Weissenberger, to make it a 10-3 game with just over eight minutes to play in the second.

The Falcons then strung off five straight goals to close out the second quarter and open the third quarter, taking a 15-3 lead. Three straight goals put an end to Messiah's run and brought Alvernia back within ten, 15-6, in the early minutes of the fourth frame. Weissenberger scored two of those three goals, and Mia Martin notched the third off the assist of Ashley Mckeever. But, Messiah scored the final five of the contest to take the 20-6 win.

Grace Weissenberger led Alvernia with five points off of two goals and three assists. She contributed on five of Alvernia's six goals scored on Saturday. Addison Bolz finished with 16 saves in net to eclipse 400 on her career. 

Alvernia is back in action on Wednesday at Eastern for a MAC Commonwealth matchup.
