Weil-Kaspar Tosses No Hitter, Golden Wolves Handle Griffins, 13-0

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (April 21, 2026) - Alvernia University (17-19) sophomore right hander Tyler Weil-Kaspar tossed a seven inning no hitter Tuesday afternoon to power the Golden Wolves to a 13-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University (17-16) in a non-conference baseball matchup at Gwynedd Mercy.

Weil-Kaspar tossed seven no hit innings, issued just two walks and fanned five batters in 92 pitches. Weil-Kaspar is the first Alvernia pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Michael Simmerman did so in a victory over Finlandia University in March of 2020. Weil-Kaspar also becomes the fifth Golden Wolf to throw a no-no in the program's history.

The Golden Wolves got on the board early and jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two runs in the first and four more in the third. Alvernia then put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth inning with a seven spot to give Weil-Kaspar breathing room to finish the job. Weil-Kaspar did just that and sat the Griffins down in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to secure the 13-0 victory in a run ruled contest.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves got to work early in the contest and tallied two runs in the opening frame. After Max Hansen was hit by a pitch and Jack Zabarsky worked a four pitch walk, Alveria had runners on first and second with no outs. Timmy Hitchcock then singled through the left side and scored Hansen to put Alvernia up 1-0. Will Woodring then put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third which allowed Harold Ivery III to drive in Zabarsky with an RBI single to second base and give the Golden Wolves an early 2-0 advantage.
  • Alvernia tacked on four more runs in the top of the third inning after Zabarsky was hit by a pitch and Hitchcock doubled to left field and put runners on second and third. Woodring then stepped up to the plate and ripped a double into the left-center gap that scored Zabarsky and Hitchcock and pushed the Alvernia lead to four.
  • Logan Nelson then singled up the middle to score Woodring and Jake Chapman extended the Alvernia lead to six after an RBI single to left field plated Nelson and made it a 6-0 ballgame.
  • The Golden Wolves and the Griffins would go scoreless over the next two innings and Weil-Kaspar continued to retire the Griffins in order as the game headed to the top of the sixth with the Golden Wolves holding a 6-0 lead and the Griffins still searching for their first hit of the ball game.
  • Alvernia then blew the game wide open in the top half of the sixth inning and plated seven runs to push the lead to double digits, 13-0. After an error allowed a run to score and an RBI groundout by Zabarsky pushed the lead to 8-0, Ivery III was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it a nine run Alvernia lead.
  • Bobby Hansen then extended the lead to double digits with a bases clearing, 3 RBI triple to right field that made it a 12-0 ballgame. Nelson followed Hansen with an RBI single up the middle that scored Hansen and put the Golden Wolves up 13-0.
  • Weil-Kaspar issued his only two walks of the evening in the bottom of the sixth and the bottom of the seventh but that was all the Griffins would get as he sat down the final Gwynedd hitters to secure the 13-0 victory for the Golden Wolves and etch his name in the Alvernia record book as the fifth Golden Wolf to toss a no-hitter.
