Grantham, Pa. (April 26, 2026) - Alvernia University (17-22, 7-14) concluded its regular season MAC Commonwealth schedule with a pair of losses to Messiah University (28-10, 19-2) on Sunday afternoon in baseball action at Messiah.
The Falcons took game one via a 7-0 decision before downing Alvernia 20-0 in run-ruled game two.
Messiah jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first inning and led 6-0 after two innings. Both sides went scoreless through the middle stretch before Messiah scored one more in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead. The Golden Wolves did not threaten in the seventh as Messiah came away with the 7-0 win.
The Falcons allowed just one hit in game one - a
Bobby Hansen double in the second inning.
Nick Ferraioli went the full six innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out two.
In game two of the day, the Falcons put up a run in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead through two. They then took a 6-0 lead after posting four runs on three hits in the bottom of the third. Messiah kept it rolling and put up another four runs in the fifth inning off of four hits to take a 10-0 lead. Messiah blew the game open in the sixth. The Falcons posted ten runs on five hits, a walk, and four hit by pitches to take a 20-0 lead. The Falcons took the 20-0 win after the game was called for the run-rule in the 7th.
Messiah allowed just two hits in game two - a
Christopher Babkowski single in the fourth, and a
Nick Noll single in the seventh.
Today's pair of losses concluded MAC Commonwealth play for Alvernia. The Golden Wolves will close out the 2026 season on Monday on the road at Keystone.
