Hitchcock Powers Golden Wolves Past Osprey

Galloway, NJ (April 6, 2026) - A six RBI performance from junior Timmy Hitchcock powered Alvernia University (12-15) to a 12-5 win over Stockton University (5-16) on Monday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Stockton.

With Alvernia leading 3-1 going into the sixth inning, Alvernia put up a seven spot in the frame to take a 10-1 advantage. The seventh inning was highlighted by a grand slam by Hitchcock with one out on the board. Hitchcock's grand slam was followed by a solo homer off the bat of Bobby Hansen in the next at-bat of the game. Will Woodring then made it three homers in the inning with a solo shot himself to give Alvernia the 10-1 lead.

Stockton posted three runnings in the bottom half of the sixth, but the Osprey never threatened further. Alvernia tacked on two more runs in the seventh before giving up one more run to Stockton in the eighth en route to the 12-5 win.

Alvernia was led on the mound by a two-hit performance by Tyler Weil-Kaspar. Weil-Kaspar scattered two hits across five innings of work and did not allow an earned run.

How it Happened
  • The Osprey took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Alvernia answered back in the top of the second to even the game at 1-1 early. Will Woodring led off the second by reaching on an error and moved over to second on a Jack Zabarsky single. Woodring then came home to score on the at-bat of Collin McCarron along with a Stockton error.
  • The Golden Wolves broke the tie and took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third. Back-to-back singles from Hitchcock and Hansen put two runners on with one out for Harold Ivery III. Ivery drove in Hitchcock on an infield out, and Woodring drove in Hansen on a single of his own to give Alvernia the two-run advantage.
  • After two and a half scoreless innings on both sides, Alvernia broke the game open with three homes in the sixth. Logan Nelson and Jack Zabarsky led off the inning with a walk and hit by pitch, respectively. Max Hansen singled through the left side to score Nelson and Jake Chapman reached on a bunt to load the bases with one out. Hitchcock stepped up to the plate and cleared the bases on a grand slam to left field to give Alvernia the 8-1 lead. Bobby Hansen immediately followed with a solo homer of his own, and, two batters later, Woodring hit one over the left field wall to cap off the inning and give Alvernia the 10-1 lead.
  • The Osprey put up three runs in the sixth on a three-run homer down the left field line, but Alvernia tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh. Hitchcock's bat stayed hot as he drove in Zabarsky and Justin Dorety with a single down the left field line, who both reached via walk earlier in the inning. Hitchcock's two-run single marked his sixth RBI of the contest as Alvernia took the 12-4 lead.
  • Stockton added one run in the bottom of the eighth, but never threatened further as Alvernia came away with the 12-5 win.
