Fast First Half Pushes Blazers Past Golden Wolves, 13-5

Reading, Pa. (April 8, 2026) - Alvernia University (7-4, 1-1) fell to Hood College (6-4, 1-1), 13-5, Wednesday night in a MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse matchup at Alvernia. 

The Blazers jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead after the first 30 minutes of action and then pushed the lead to eight, 9-1, with 11 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Golden Wolves pulled back within four, 9-5, at the start of the fourth quarter but the Blazers rattled off four unanswered to end the game and secure the 13-5 victory. 

How it Happened 
  • Hood came out flying to start the game and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. The Blazers then pushed that lead to 6-0 after the first eight minutes of the second quarter. 
  • Alvernia got on the board with just under three minutes to go in the first half thanks to a Jimmy Sparacio goal from Jackson Schools but the Blazers answered a minute later to make it 7-1 heading into the halftime break. 
  • Hood came out and extended its lead to eight, 9-1, after two goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter. 
  • Alvernia then answered with a string of goals that pulled the Golden Wolves back in the game. Jack Natyshak netted two unassisted goals and Keegan Driscoll added an unassisted goal as well to pull Alvernia within five, 9-4, heading to the fourth quarter. 
  • The Golden Wolves then tallied the first goal of the fourth quarter after Sparacio connected with Driscoll in the first 22 seconds on a man-up goal to make it a four goal, 9-5, deficit. 
  • The Blazers then sealed the game with four unanswered goals to close the game out and secured the 13-5 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Jack Natyshak and Keegan Driscoll both led the way for Alvernia on the offensive side of the ball with two goals each. Natyshak also picked up seven ground balls. 
  • Jimmy Sparacio netted a goal and also dished out an assist and caused two turnovers. 
  • Jackson Schools recorded an assist, picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover. 
  • James Geritano caused two turnovers and tallied one ground ball and Wesley Clemison picked up five ground balls and tallied one caused turnover. 
  • Nathan Byrne recorded five saves in goal for Alvernia.
