Reading, Pa. (September 11, 2026) - On Friday evening, the Alvernia University women's volleyball team defeated the Owls of Bryn Mawr College 3-0 to remain unbeaten at home. The Golden Wolves got tested early in set one but finished strong on a 8-2 run to take set one 25-18. Alvernia would ride that momentum and cruise to a 25-14 set two win. Despite some resistance from the Owls in set three, using two big runs the Golden Wolves were able to sneak away with a 25-21 win and complete the sweep.


How it Happened 

• The Golden Wolves started out the first set hot and rattled off a 10-2 scoring run to start the match and forced an early Bryn Mawr timeout. 

• Alvernia made it 12-2 after the timeout before the Owls rattled off eight straight points to pull within two, 12-10. 

• The Golden Wolves and the Owls traded points back and forth with the Owls pulling within one, 17-17, but Alvernia responded with an 8-2 scoring stretch to end the set and took the first set by a score of 25-18. Alvernia's Olivia Jones tallied four kills for the Golden Wolves and Allison Wolf and Casey Treude hammered home two a piece. 

• Alvernia opened up the second set hot again and jumped out to an early 7-4 lead but the Owls responded with four straight points to take the 8-7 advantage. 

• The Golden Wolves answered back with a 12-4 scoring stretch that put them up seven, 19-12, and forced a Bryn Mawr timeout. 

• Alvernia ended the second set with five of the final seven points to take the second set 25-14, and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

• The third set was as competitive as the first with both teams trading points. Alvernia jumped out to an impressive 6-0 lead behind Olivia VonNeidas services and Jones' three kills. The Owls came storming back outscoring the Golden Wolves 10-6 to cut the deficit to 12-10. However, another 6-3 run from Alvernia provided some breathing room now leading 18-13.

• Bryn Mawr showed fight despite trailing late and crawled their way back into the set, using a 6-3 run, now trailing 21-19. The Golden Wolves took advantage of two Owl attack errors and two Wolf kills to take the third set 25-21. 

Inside the Box Score 

• Allison Wolf led the Golden Wolves with 13 kills. Olivia Jones finished with nine and Casey Treude with seven. 

• Both Marli Emrich and Olivia VonNeida tallied 13 assists on the night. While VonNieda led the team with 17 digs.

• The Golden Wolves take the rest of the weekend off and head to Stevenson next Tuesday for their MAC Commonwealth opener at 7:00 PM.
