Reading, Pa. (September 23, 2026) - Alvernia University (2-3-2) tallied three goals in the first half before added a fourth for insurance in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory over Penn State Abington (0-7-1) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer matchup at Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves netted two goals within 30 seconds of each other, both of which came off the foot of Regan Schroeder, to put the Golden Wolves up 2-0 early in the game. Alvernia then tacked on a third goal in the first 20 minutes of the game when Faith Greenday put the ball into the back of the net to send the Golden Wolves into the half with a 3-0 lead. Alvernia tacked on one more goal for insurance in the 58th minute when Emily Walter scored to seal the 4-0 victory for the Golden Wolves. 

How it Happened

• The Golden Wolves controlled the early part of the game and broke the scoreless tie with just over eight minutes into the contest when Sarah Ashley connected with Regan Schroeder to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0. 
• Alvernia doubled the score just 30 seconds later when the Golden Wolves were awarded a penalty kick after a Lions foul inside the box. Alvernia sent Schroeder to the spot and she fired the ball into the left side of the goal and past the Penn State Abington goalie to make it a 2-0 Alvernia lead. 
• The Golden Wolves tacked on one more goal in the first 20 minutes of the game when Faith Greenday put the ball into the back of the net thanks to an assist from Kayleigh McKeown to give the Golden Wolves a three goal lead heading into the halftime break. 
• Alvernia rattled three shots at the Abington goal before Emily Walter broke through and netted the fourth goal for the Golden Wolves in the 58th minute after an Alvernia corner to make it a 4-0 Alvernia lead. 
• The Golden Wolves held the Abington offense to five shots in the final 30 minutes but none of the five were on target as the Golden Wolves secured the shutout victory over the Lions, 4-0. 

Inside the Box Score 

• Regan Schroeder led the Golden Wolves with two goals on the day and logged 70 minutes played. Both of Schroeder's goals came as the first two in her Alvernia career. 
• Faith Greenday and Emily Walter added the other two goals for the Golden Wolves and Greenday led with six total shots and four shots on goal. 
• Sarah Ashley and Kayleigh McKeown both dished out assists for the Golden Wolves and Ashley also tallied one shot on goal and played the full 90 minutes. 
• Abby Rowley tallied four saves in goal for the Golden Wolves and earned her first shutout victory of the season.
