Allentown, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Volleyball (5-4) dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at the Muhlenberg College Tri-Match hosted at Muhlenberg's Memorial Hall. 

The Golden Wolves dropped a trio of close sets to Oswego State (5-7) to drop the first match of the day, 3-0, before falling to the host Mules (8-8) in straight sets as well.

Match One : Oswego State 3, Alvernia 0

How it Happened

• Alvernia led 7-4 early in the first set before a 7-1 run put Oswego in front, 11-8. The Golden Wolves and Lakers went back and forth over the next few points with the Lakers leading 17-15 later in the set. A quick 4-0 run by the Lakers gave them a little breathing room before Alvernia went on a 4-0 run itself that was capped by an Olivia Rohrbaugh ace to get back within one late, 20-19. The Golden Wolves then tied it at 21-21 on an Oswego attack error. But, the Lakers rebounded and scored the final four of the set to take set one, 25-21.
• Oswego jumped out to a 6-0 lead to open the second set. Alvernia battled back into it and got within two, 11-9, on a 6-2 run that was capped by an Allison Wolf kill. Oswego answered Alvernia's run with one of its own and took a 22-14 lead on an 8-2 run. Alvernia battled back once again and got back within two, 23-21, late in the second frame. Alvernia's run was capped by two kills from Wolf and a Melina Stinsky ace. Alvernia then got within one, 24-23, on another Wolf kill. But, the Lakers closed out the set on a kill of their own to take the 2-0 match lead, 25-23.
• After an early back and forth between Alvernia and Oswego State that saw Alvernia get within one, 10-9, on a Rohrbaugh ace, the Lakers ran away with the third set late. Oswego built its lead up to 20-12 on back-to-back Alvernia attacking errors, and made it a 24-14 late. Alvernia held off match point twice before the Lakers finished it off on a kill.

Inside the Box Score

• Allison Wolf led Alvernia with 13 kills on 36 attacks.
• Olivia VanNeida finished with 18 assists and 10 digs.
• Olivia Rohrbough tallied two aces and three blocks.

Match Two: Muhlenberg 3, Alvernia 0

How it Happened

• The Mules jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead in set one. After Alvernia cut Muhlenberg's lead in half, 10-5, the Mules stormed ahead on a 7-1 run to take a 17-6 lead. The Mules built their lead up to 23-8 late. The Golden Wolves led off the Mules with a 6-1 run, but Muhlenberg secured the first set, 25-14, on a kill.
• An early ace from Rohrbaugh in the second set capped off a quick 3-1 run for the Golden Wolves and brought Alvernia within one, 7-6. The Mules then pulled away, out-scoring Alvernia 13-4 in the latter stretch of the set. Alvernia battled back to get within four, 23-19, on a 6-0 run behind the service of VanNeida. But, the Mules closed out the set, 25-19,on back-to-back errors to take the two set lead.
• The Mules took an early 11-4 lead in set three and never looked back. Muhlenberg built its lead up to 12, 20-8, on a late kill. Muhlenberg finished off the set and match on a kill to take the third frame, 25-15, and secure the three set win.

Inside the Box Score

• Allison Wolf and Zoe Velez had five kills each. Wolf led Alvernia with 34 attacks. 
• Olivia VonNeida led Alvernia with 16 assists and also added ten digs.
• Caroline Buggy had a team-high 12 digs and Olivia Jones added another 11.
