Wolf, Carotenuto Named Alvernia Athletes of the Week

Reading, Pa. (September 28, 2026) - Women's Volleyball's Allison Wolf and Football's Kevin Carotenuto earned Alvernia Athlete of the Week honors for their performances on the court and field during the week of September 21-26.

Allison Wolf led the Golden Wolves to a 2-2 week including a five set victory over York College on Wednesday. The victory came as the first victory over the Spartans is program history. Wolf tallied a team high 45 kills in 14 sets played for Alvernia during the week and also recorded 15 digs, one block assist and posted a .933 serve reception percentage. In a three set victory over Penn State Hazleton on Monday, Wolf recorded 11 kills on 27 total attacks and committed just three errors for a .296 hitting percentage. Wolf then led the Golden Wolves in a five set thriller against MAC Commonwealth for York College with 16 kills on 43 total attempts and hammered home four kills in the deciding fourth set for the Golden Wolves. Finally, in a tri-match over the weekend with Oswego State and Muhlenberg, Wolf tallied 17 kills between the two matches, including 13 against Oswego State, and recorded five digs.

Kevin Carotenuto helped lead the Golden Wolves to a 13-10 victory over Lebanon Valley College on a rainy Saturday and did so by kicking two field goals, the second of which came as the game winning kick in double overtime. Carotenuto kicked a 36 yard field goal with under 30 seconds to go in the first half to tie the game at three. That kick proved to be the kick that sent the game into overtime as the Golden Wolves and the Dutchmen headed to the extra period tied at three. Carotenuto then got a chance to win the game in the double overtime period and knocked through a 21 yard field goal to lift the Golden Wolves over the Dutchmen, 13-10. Carotenuto also played double duty on Saturday and tallied an impressive day punting the football. Carotenuto tallied five punts for a total of 208 yards and a 41.6 yards per punt average. Carotenuto also belted a 72 yard punt from his own endzone that pinned the Dutchmen inside of their own 20 yard line late in the fourth quarter and the punt of 72 yards set a new program record. Carotenuto pinned four of his five punts inside of the LVC 20 yard line and also posted two punts of 50 or more yards.

Alvernia Women's Volleyball is in action four times this week and three of those matches are at home. The Golden Wolves head to Dickinson to take on the Red Devils tomorrow at 7:00 PM before returning home for a match against Penn State Brandywine at 6:00 PM on Thursday. Alvernia rounds out the weekend with a home tri-match with Rutgers-Camden and Delaware Valley and will play the 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM matches.

Alvernia Football is on a bye week this week and is back in action next Saturday when they face off against Misericordia on Homecoming and Family Weekend at Alvernia.
