Golden Wolves Net Three Second Half Goals, Down Lions, 3-1

Reading, Pa. (September 4, 2026)  - Alvernia University (1-1) netted three goals in the final 12 minutes of the game en route to a 3-1 come from behind victory over Penn State Berks (0-1-1) Friday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia. The Golden Wolves faced a one goal deficit heading into the final 12 minutes of the second half before Chris Hille, Chase Malone and Jackson Taliani all found the back of the net within 11 minutes of each other to power the Golden Wolves to a 3-1 victory over the Lions.

How it Happened

  • Both the Golden Wolves and the Lions offenses started out slow before the Golden Wolves tallied two shots within two minutes, both from sophomore forward Chase Malone. Malone had one shot go high over the cross bar and the second shot he fired at goal came from outside of the box and he just missed the goal.

  • The Lions answered with their first shot attempt six minutes later, which Terridine Grant buried into the back of the net. Penn State Berks' Sebastian Rios flicked the ball to Grant, he controlled the ball with an Alvernia defender on his back, he then snuck the ball into the far post to put the Lions up 1-0.

  • The Golden Wolves fired eight more shots in the final 25 minutes of the half with two going on net but they were not able to find the back of the net as the Lions took a one goal lead into the halftime break.

  • Alvernia then came out and controlled the second half of the game and rattled off eight shots at the Berks net before breaking the ice and leveling the score in the 79th minute.

  • Chris Hille leveled the score after settling a Berks clearance after a long throw, Hille then fired a ball onto frame and snuck it by the Berks keeper to tie the game at one.

  • The Golden Wolves kept the pressure on and grabbed the lead just under five minutes later when Chase Lankelis took the ball down the far sideline and after making a move past a Berks defender and toward the end line he clipped the ball into the box and found the head of a streaking Chase Malone who headed the ball into the back of the net and put the Golden Wolves on top, 2-1.

  • Alvernia capped the night off with a goal in the final minute of the game after the Golden Wolves were awarded a free kick from about 30 yards out. Alvernia captain Jackson Taliani stepped up to take the free kick and curled his attempt perfectly into the top left corner of the goal to make it a 3-1 Alvernia lead and secured the victory over the Lions.
