Reading, Pa. (September 8, 2026)  - Alvernia University announced its 2026 Hall of Fame class Tuesday afternoon. 

The 2026 Hall of Fame Class is made up of five individual athletes, one team, one coach and one administrator. 

Kevin Becker-Menditto (Baseball), Kelli McIntyre (Women's Basketball), Brian Parker (Men's Basketball), Erin Solley (Field Hockey), Shane Zellers (Baseball), the 2012 Alvernia Softball Team and Laura Gingrich (Head Field Hockey Coach, Administrator) will all be inducted into the Alvernia Athletics Hall of Fame in October. In addition, longtime faculty member Dr. Tom Porrazzo will be awarded with the "Friends of Alvernia Athletics Award" for his years of service and support of Alvernia University, especially the athletic department. 

Alvernia will celebrate the inductees with a Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday, October 8th at 5:30 PM in the Tom and Helen Flynn PLEX on campus.

Kevin Becker-Menditto was a four year member of the Alvernia Baseball team. Becker-Menditto recorded 88 relief appearances in his career, 108.1 innings pitched, struck out 97 batters, allowed 83 hits and 25 runs with just 12 of those runs being earned runs. Becker-Menditto posted a staggering 47 saves in his career including 16 in his senior year. Becker-Menditto also recorded a career 1.00 ERA and tallied three seasons with under a 1.00 ERA including a 0.28 ERA in the 2013 season. Becker-Menditto was a First Team D3Baseball All-American in 2013 and a Third Team All-American in 2015. He was the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year in 2013 and 2015, a four time First Team All-MAC Commonwealth pitcher and a two time ABCA/D3Baseball First Team All-Region pitcher in 2013 and 2015. Becker-Menditto also helped lead Alvernia to three straight MAC Commonwealth Championship appearances in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and helped Alvernia bring home the MAC Commonwealth title in 2013 and 2015. 

Kelli McIntyre is a three year member of the Alvernia Women's Basketball team and helped lead Alvernia to three straight postseason appearances. McIntyre scored 1,370 points in her Alvernia career and averaged 15.75 points per game. McIntyre made 507 total field goals in her career at a 40% clip including 148 made three pointers. McIntyre grabbed 289 career rebounds, dished out 145 assists, recorded 133 steals and only turned the ball over 67 times. McIntyre also tallied three career double-doubles and three career triple-doubles. McIntyre led Alvernia to the 2007-2008 PAC semifinals, the 2008-2009 MAC Freedom semifinals and the 2009-2010 MAC Commonwealth semifinals. McIntyre was also a three time all-conference honoree and was Second Team All-PAC in 2007-2008, Second Team All-MAC Freedom in 2008-2009 and Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth in 2009-2010. 

Brian Parker was a four year member of the Alvernia Men's Basketball team and helped lead Alvernia to three MAC Commonwealth titles in a four year span. Parker scored 1,078 points in his career and tallied 945 of those points in his junior and senior seasons. Parker averaged 18.54 points per game in 2013-2014 and was also named a NABC Second Team All-American. Also during the 2013-2014 season, Parker helped lead Alvernia to its third MAC Commonwealth title in four years and its second title in a row after winning in 2012-2013. Parker was also named the 2014 MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, was a D3Hoops/NABC First Team All-Region selection and was the 2014 MAC Commonwealth tournament MVP after scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 70-69 victory over Stevenson in the title game. Parker also grabbed 627 career rebounds, made 406 field goals and posted 24 career double-doubles. 

Erin Solley is a four year member of the Alvernia Field Hockey team and helped lead Alvernia to two postseason appearances during her career. Solley, a defender, recorded 41 career points with 12 goals and 17 assists and also recorded ten defensive saves. Solley helped lead Alvernia to a 51-35 overall record between the years of 2010-2013 and was a First Team All-Region selection in 2011, a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth selection in 2011 and a Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth selection in 2012. Solley was also the 2012-2013 MAC Field Hockey Senior Scholar Athlete for excelling both on the field and in the classroom during her time at Alvernia. 

Shane Zellers is a four year member of the Alvernia Baseball team and also helped lead Alvernia to four postseason appearances including the 2009 MAC Freedom title. Zellers recorded 261.2 innings pitched in 44 appearances, recorded 22 wins on the mound, posted a 2.86 career ERA, two career shutouts and his 239 career strikeouts is the fifth most in program history. Zellers was the 2009 MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Year and helped lead Alvernia to its first MAC title in program history. In 2010, Zellers was named a D3Baseball Second Team All-American, an ABCA First Team All-Region selection and a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth Pitcher.


The 2012 Alvernia Softball team is also being inducted into the Alvernia Athletics Hall of Fame in 2026. The 2012 Softball team were the first and are currently the only Alvernia Softball team to win a MAC Commonwealth Championship and did so by beating #1 Messiah, who were previously undefeated in MAC Commonwealth play, in back to back games to secure the Commonwealth title. Alvernia then went onto post a 2-2 record at the NCAA Regionals as the #5 seed and were eliminated from the tournament by the #2 seed Moravian. The 2012 team finished with a 38-11 overall record including a 10-4 record in MAC Commonwealth play. The 2012 team also posted a staggering 18-0 record at home, a .320 team batting average, 429 hits as a unit and its pitching staff posted a 2.10 team ERA. The 2012 Softball team also tallied the first NCAA Regional win in program history with an 8-0 victory over Baruch College.

Long time head Field Hockey coach Laura Gingrich is being inducted into the Alvernia Athletics Hall of Fame in the class of 2026. Gingrich spent 27 years with Alvernia Athletics which dates back to the 1999 field hockey season when she took over at the helm. Gingrich spent 24 seasons as the head field hockey coach, amassing 292 career wins including 131 victories in conference play. Gingrich also led 14 Alvernia teams to playoff appearances, won two conference championships and made three NCAA tournament appearances. Gingrich spent 22 years as an administrator at Alvernia between the years of 2000-2022 and served as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator beginning in 2000 before being promoted to Associate Athletic Director in 2004. Gingrich also served as the Interim Director of Athletics in 2008-2009 and oversaw the transition of Alvernia from the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) and oversaw the completion of Alvernia's turf field and the construction of Angelica Park. Gingrich led Alvernia field hockey to PAC titles in 2005 and 2007, four MAC Commonwealth title games and won the ECAC Championship four times, most recently in 2024. During her time on the sideline, Gingrich coached 82 all-conference honorees, 29 all-region honorees and 14 All-Americans. In addition, she coached 12 conference players or rookies of the year and was named coach of the year twice herself in 2006 and 2011. 

In addition to the inductees, Alvernia Athletics is honoring Dr. Tom Porrazzo with the "Friends of Alvernia Athletics Award". Dr. Porrazzo (commonly known as Dr. P) was with the University since 1988 and most recently retired in 2026. Dr. Porrazzo's influence and impact on the campus community and Alvernia Athletics goes far beyond facts, honors, championships won, etc. he was a true definition of what Alvernia University stands for as a whole. Dr. Porrazzo began his career at Alvernia in 1988 as an instructor in the Physical Education Department, was the head athletic trainer and also the Faculty Athletic Representative. In 1992 he was promoted to Chair of the Physical Education Department until he was named the Athletic Training Program Director in 1998 until 2012. In 2013 he was named the Director of the Healthcare Science program at Alvernia and also the Clinical Coordinator for the Physical Education program while still maintaining his title as Head Athletic Trainer. From 2014-2021 he was the Director of Sports Medicine, Director of Healthcare Science, and the Chair of Allied Health & Human Services. Dr. Porrazzo held the position of Chair of the Healthcare Science Department until his retirement in 2026. Between the years of 1988 and 2017, Porrazzo served as the head Athletic Trainer at Alvernia oversaw the recruitment, training and supervision of graduate assistant and assistant athletic trainers. As the Chair of Healthcare Science and the Director of the Athletic Training program, Dr. Porrazzo coordinated the department's academic programs and activities, scheduling of courses and oversaw the preparation and implementation of the budget. Through all of these accolades, accomplishments and promotions, Dr. Porrazzo was a constant presence within Alvernia Athletics. You could often find him on the sidelines, benches, press boxes, and was always finding ways to support Alvernia student-athletes in any way he could.
