Coach Sands joined the Alvernia Baseball coaching staff for the 2011 season. Coach Sands will work mainly with infielders, outfielders and batters. His previous coaching experience includes time as the head coach for the Conrad Weider Legion as well as coaching at various camps and clinics in Berks County.
Sands graduated from Francis Merion University (SC) after competing athe Division II level in the Peachbelt Conference. He was a regular starter at SS or 2B throughout his career and was named All-American, All-Region and All-Conference. During his college career he was also a member of the Quakertown Blazers (ACBL) where he still holds numerous hitting records (single season average, doubles, triples, runs scored and steals).
After graduating from Francis Merion, Sands signed with the San Fransico Giants in 1999. His Single A career was cut short due to injuries.
Sands is a 1994 Wilson High School graduate and currently owns and operate Berks Auto Reconditioning LLC & Collision Center facility in Wernersville, Pa. He resides in Womelsdorf with his wife, Elizabeth and son, Jace
