At Regis, Smith assisted with the recruiting of all cross country and track and field prospective student-athletes. He also implemented strength and conditioning programs and oversaw the throws while also jointly overseeing the multis, hurdles, sprints, and jumps. In his second year at Regis, Smith was named the Interim Head Coach.
During his two years, Regis saw 13 program records be broken and placed three individual GNAC champions and three GNAC runners-up on the podium at the 2020 GNAC Championships. Three individuals also qualified for the 2020 New England Championship.Â

Smith was a two-time Empire 8 champion in javelin, and also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors twice. He still holds the Utica record in javelin, and also holds the second highest point total all-time in the Heptathlon at Utica. In his final season of competition at Utica, Smith was the runner-up at the AARTFC Championship in javelin and also qualified for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
