BOX SCORE
Reading, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2007) – Alvernia College senior
Brandi Light (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) tied one school record and crept up on two more with two goals and an assist Tuesday afternoon in a 4-1 non-conference women's soccer win over Penn State-Berks.
Light tied Sarra Hager ('03) with her 32nd career goal on Tuesday and pulled within two assists of the career record at Alvernia and within one point of Hager for the points record with her 75th.
Light scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute, but kept people wondering if she would tie the record by waiting until the 88th minute to net her second of the day. In the meantime she set up freshman
Stephanie Loftus (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) in the 25th minute, her 11th career helper, as the Crusaders (5-5-2) built an early 2-0 lead over the host Lions (1-7).
PSU-Berks got on the board in the 70th minute against freshman
Allison Blair (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) who was making her first career appearance in net for the Crusaders.
The third day of the goal for Alvernia was credited as an own goal against the Lions and sophomore
Angela Gibson (Auburn, Pa./Schuylkill Haven) set up Light for the record-tying goal.
Blair finished with four saves in net while the Crusaders outshot Berks 24-6.
Alvernia will turn right around and host Arcadia University on Thursday.
