Alvernia Breezes Past Berks

Sikorski Hammers Down 16 Kills

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2007) – Senior outside hitter Amy Sikorski (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) hammered down a match-high 16 kills to lead Alvernia College to a 3-0 win over Penn State-Berks Thursday evening in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.

Alvernia cruised to a 30-10 win in the opening game getting 13 points on serve in the first two rotations. Freshman Leah Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) put Alvernia up 7-0 after an initial side out, and Laura Hetke (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) pushed the lead to 15-1 serving for seven straight points.
PSU-Berks put up a little resistance late in game two scoring four straight points on its final serve, but Alvernia took the game on a side out, 30-16.

Crimi set the tone again in the final game serving Alvernia to an early 9-0 lead and the Crusaders never looked back taking the deciding game 30-12.

Crimi finished the night with 22 assists and eight digs. Older sister Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) led the team with 11 digs, and Sikorski led the defense with three solo blocks.

Alvernia will return to the conference schedule Saturday when it travels to Baltimore to face the College of Notre Dame.
