Crusaders Win At #1, #2 and #3 Singles But Lose 5-4

Aston, Pa. (October 3, 2007) – The Crusaders dropped a marathon match that lasted five hours and 45 minutes at Neumann College by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday night. With the loss Alvernia drops to 4-4, 3-3 PAC and Neumann improves to 6-5, 4-1 PAC.

The match started with a Crusader victory in #1 doubles as Jenny McKee (York, PA/York Catholic) and Hannah Dickey (Summit, NJ/Summit) combined for their seventh victory of the season, defeating the Neumann duo of Rachel Coladonato and Allison Trout 8-4. Alvernia would drop their next two doubles match-ups, both by scores of 8-5 to give Neumann the lead heading into singles play.

McKee would easily handle Neumann #1 Katie Nell 6-0, 6-0 for her eighth straight win at #1 singles. Both Dickey and Janine Horning (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) were victorious at #2 and #3 singles respectively. Alvernia then saw their early lead slowly slip away as the Crusaders dropped their next three match-ups at #4, #5 and #6 singles.
