Reading, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2007) – Ursinus College topped Alvernia 6-1 Monday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Angelica Park.
Ursinus earned two of three doubles points with the Alvernia team of
Samantha Bader (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and
Heather Leader (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) taking an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles to make the score 2-1 Ursinus entering singles play.
Ursinus earned wins at No. 2 and Nos. 4-6 singles with Leader the only one to extend her match to three sets at No. 5 singles. Alvernia freshman
Jenny McKee (York, Pa./York Catholic) and sophomore
Janine Horning (Red Hill, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) were both up one set to none before their matches were called for darkness in the second set.
Alvernia will return to the conference schedule hosting Rosemont College on Tuesday.
