Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2009) - After dropping two of three matches in doubles play Alvernia University (8-2) stormed through singles with five wins in six matches to take a 6-3 decision over King's College (7-2) Monday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at King's.
King's won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with the Alvernia team of
Brittany Veith (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) and
Laura Ehnes (Roselle Park, Pa./Roselle Park) taking an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Alvernia then answered back with wins in each of the first four singles matches taking No 2, 3, and 4 in straight sets. Ehnes won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 and
Jenny McKee (York, Pa./York Catholic) responded to a 6-0 loss in the opening set by taking the final two convincingly 6-2, 6-1.
Alvernia is in action again on Thursday when it hosts Philadelphia Biblical in a make-up match at Governor Mifflin Courts.
