GAME TWO BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (March 11, 2009) - Sophomore Michelle Jensen (Holland, NJ/Delaware Valley) and senior Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame) both held the Wolverines from Wesley College to one run as Alvernia swept Wesley 4-1 and 9-1 in non-conference action this afternoon.  Today's game was played at the PSU-Berks field as the Crusader's future home at Angelica Park is not yet completed.

Rhiannon Sorrentino (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) got things started in the first game with a lead-off double and came around to score on an RBI-double from Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine).  Wesley College managed to even the score in the top of the second after a lead-off double from Megan Street and an RBI-single from Carmen Walsh.

Alvernia would rebound to score one run in each of the next three innings for the 4-1 win.  Crimi laced an RBI-single in the fourth to score Lynch and Alvernia's final two runs would both score off of sacrifice flies.  Sorrentino was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Lynch was 1-for-2 with two run scored an two stolen bases.

The Crusaders jumped ahead early again in the second game taking advantage of two Wesley erros and putting up four runs in the first inning.  Sorrentino reached on an error and Lynch quickly followed with her second single of the day.  After a single from Samanthe Geisinger (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) to load the bases, two runs came around to score on Wesley's second error of the inning.  A single from Amy Mesce (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) plated another run, and a fielder's choice scored the fourth run of the inning.

Alvernia plated two more runs in the second inning and three in the third to secure the 9-1 five inning victory.  Giesinger was 3-for-3 in the second game with a double and a run scored.

The Crusaders will return to action March 20th at 3:00 pm when they travel to Ursinus for another non-conference match-up.
