Reading, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2009) - Alvernia University (4-0) cruised through three doubles matches losing just four games and swept six singles matches in straight sets Wednesday afternoon in a 9-0, non-conference women's tennis match win over Lancaster Bible at Angelica Park.
The win improves the Crusaders to 4-0 with the conference schedule set to start this Saturday against crosstown rival Albright College.
Junior No. 1
Jenny McKee (York, Pa./York Catholic), the current Commonwealth Player of the Week, teamed with
Kayla Morgan (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg) for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and the Crusaders won 8-0 at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
McKee started the singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Morgan won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
Lauren Ertel (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2,
Lil Snyder (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 to join Ertel in the ranks of the unbeaten this season,
Karoline Miller (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) took a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5 and
Brittany Veith (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) rounded out the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Alvernia and Albright will take the courts at Angelica Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
