Annville, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2009) - In a match-up of previously unbeaten teams Wednesday afternoon, Lebanon Valley College (6-0, 3-0) topped Alvernia University (7-1, 2-1), 7-2 in Commonwealth Conference women's tennis action at LVC giving the Crusaders their first loss of the season.

LVC earned two of three points by winning the top two doubles flights while Alvernia sophomore Laura Ehnes (Roselle Park, Pa./Roselle Park) and junior Brittany Veith (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) teamed to earn an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.  The Alvernia team of Lauren Ertel (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) and Lillian Snyder (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg), who entered the day 5-1 at No. 2 doubles extended the match to an extra game before falling 9-7.

Snyder turned around and won her singles match in the third flight in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, but LVC prevailed in the other five matches for the win.  Only the No. 4 match went three sets with LVC prevailing 10-5 in the deciding set.

Alvernia will look to return to its winning ways when it hosts Messiah College on Saturday at Governor Mifflin courts.
