Allentown, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2009) - Alvernia University freshmen Kayla Morgan (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg) played behind Sarah Wicks in her senior year at Hamburg and Friday afternoon the former high school teammates were the last and deciding match in a 5-4 win for the Crusaders over Cedar Crest College.

Morgan pulled out a 10-7 tiebreak win in the third set to break the 4-all team score and send the Crusaders home with a 2-0 record, the exact opposite of the mark they pulled out of Cedar Crest with a year ago.

The Crusaders found themselves down 2-1 after Cedar Crest took the 1st and 3rd doubles matches, but Alvernia rattled off straight set wins at each of the top three singles spots while the Falcons took the matches at No. 5 and 6 singles.  Morgan and Wicks were then the last two on the court having split the first two sets of the match by 6-4 counts.  The win is the second straight in singles play for Morgan to start her college career.

Alvernia returns home to face its third straight former Pennsylvania Athletic Conference foe on Tuesday when Immaculata University comes to Reading.
