Crusaders Blank Delaware Valley

Alvernia Hands Aggies 6-0 Loss

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2010) - Sophomore midfielder Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) scored two goals as Alvernia (9-6-2) defeated the visiting Aggies from Delaware Valley (5-11-1) this evening in non-conference action at Schlager Memorial Field.  Crusader goalkeeper Benjamin Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) held Del-Val scoreless through 90 minutes.

Alvernia promptly opened scoring with a goal in the 11th minute fromDomenic Montone (Elkins Park, Pa./Abington) and Martyn's two goals in the 13th and 16th minute.  The 3-0 lead remained through the first half with Alvernia outshooting the Aggies 8-3 and holding the 3-0 corner kick advantage.

The Crusaders added to thei already comfortable lead with second half goals from Karl Hogg (Bangor, Ireland)-his first of the season, Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) and Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown).  Both Franks and Hogg also tallied an assist on the night and Chris Lasher (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) assisted on the game's first and third goal.  The Crusaders outshot the Aggies 11-2 in the second half. 

Alvernia will travel to Glenside, Pa. to face Arcadia this Saturday for a 3:00pm key Commonwealth Conference match-up.
