Reading, Pa. (June 9, 2010) - Twenty-seven Crusader student-athletes were named to the conference spring honor roll, including seven from the Women's Lacrosse team. The Middle Atlantic Conferences Spring Academic Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.
All eight spring sports at Alvernia were represented, with two athletes from Baseball, two from Golf, three from Men's Lacrosse, four from Men's Tennis, two from Men's Track and Field, four from Softball, seven from Women's Lacrosse and two from Women's Track and Field. From the 27 Alvernia student-athletes named to the All-Academic team, three also earned All-Conference honors. Softball player
Rhiannon Sorrentino (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was named the Commonwealth Player of the Year and went on to earn All-American status, Men's Tennis Player
Zach Lockwood (Reading, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was named to the All-Commonwealth First Team and Women's Lacrosse player Samantha Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) was named to the Second Team All Commonwealth.
Messiah led in total selections with 75, while Misericordia was second with 54 student-athletes. Elizabethtown was third with 46 followed by King's with 42, Manhattanville 35, Wilkes (33), and FDU-Florham with 30 athletes. Widener was eighth (28), followed by Alvernia (27), Lycoming (26) DeSales and Eastern tied with 25, Albright (23), Arcadia (21), Delaware Valley (18) and Shenandoah (8).
