Alvernia Earns Road Win At Stevenson

Owings Mill, Mary. (Jan. 24, 2011) - Junior center Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) recorded her fourth straight double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Alvernia University (11-7) took control with a 10-0 run to close the first half en route to a 64-44 win at Stevenson (1-16) Monday evening in a non-conference women's basketball game.

With the score tied at 20-all Alvernia forced four turnovers and held Stevenson scoreless on five shots while hitting five of its own to build a 30-20 halftime lead.  Freshman Shaneye Glenn (Coatesville, Pa./The Hill School) led the way with four of her 10 points and a pair of steals during the three minute run.

Stevenson cut the second half lead down to six points, 34-28, but Alvernia answered with an 18-7 spurt to put the game out of reach.

Allie Toczylowski (Mantua, N.J./Clearview Regional) also reached double figures for the Crusaders with 14 points.  This was the first ever meeting between Alvernia and Stevenson.

The Crusaders return to the conference schedule on Saturday at Elizabethtown.
