Diller Blanks Dutchmen, Franks Nets Second OT Winner

Junior Goalie Seconds From 400 Straight Scoreless Minutes

BOX SCORE
Annville, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2011) - Junior Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) moved his consecutive shutouts minutes near 400 and senior Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored his second overtime game-winner to lead Alvernia University (9-2-1, 2-0) to a 1-0 win over Lebanon Valley College (8-5, 1-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at LVC.

The Crusaders have now posted eight shutouts in their nine wins this season with Diller, the defending conference Defensive Player of the Week, getting full credit for six of the eight.  The Crusaders bettered Eastern University 2-1 in overtime back on the 11th of September, their only win this season where both teams scored and the last time Franks burried an OT winner.

Franks pumped a team-best four shots at LVC keeper James Clemente on Saturday and the junior was up to the task on all but the last.  Diller turned away five in net for the Crusaders.

After a scoreless regulation in which the Crusaders held a slight 13-12 advantage in shots, Franks carved up the Dutchmen defense on his own and deposited the game-winner on the first shot of extra time.

The Crusaders return home to face conference foe Elizabethtown Tuesday evening.  Game time is 6:30.
