Reading, Pa. (Mar. 28, 2012) - Alvernia University (3-2) got off to a great start sweeping through the doubles matches then split singles to double up Penn State-Berks (2-3), 6-3 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Berks.

The Crusaders won rather handily at each of the three doubles flights.  Jenn Petrilla (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton East) and Kayla Morgan (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg) won 8-3 at No. 1, Jennifer Innamorato (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge West/East) and Laura Ehnes (Roselle Park, N.J./Roselle Park) took an 8-2 decision at No. 2 and Kellie O'Donnell (Oreland, Pa./Springfield Twp.) and Maygan Henzie (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished off an 8-4 win at No. 3.

The Lions came back with wins at each of the top three singles flights.  Both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches went three sets.  Ehnes pulled off a three-set win over her own at No. 4 as did Henzie at No. 6 while O'Donnell won in straight sets at No. 5.

The Crusaders return to action Saturday at Messiah.
