Ebersole, Fortna Lead Comeback Win Over Gallaudet

Sophomore Guards Total 14 Points

Lexington, Va. (Nov. 16, 2013) - Sophomore guards Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) and Stevie Fortna (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) scored 13 points apiece in the second half and Alvernia University (1-0) overcame a nine-point halftime deficit in a 73-66 win over Gallaudet University (0-1) in game two of the Washington & Lee Tip-Off Tournament.

Fortna scored all 13 of her second-half points over the first eight-plus minutes as the Crusaders worked to tie the score at 51-all.  They took their first lead of the half on Ebersole's first points of the half and the Crusaders scored eight of the next 10 points for a 59-53 lead with 7:41 to play.

Alvernia extended its lead to seven points, 71-64 with three minutes to play and after an exchange of buckets, neither teams scored over the final two minutes.

Eight other players scored at least two points for the Crusaders.  Gallaudet was led by Lindsey Stergio who totaled 29 points and 13 rebounds.

Alvernia will face Meredith in the tournament championship game Sunday at 4:00.
