Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) scored a game-high 22 points in 23 minutes to lead Alvernia Universit (4-0) to a 95-70 win over Penn State-Berks (0-4) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Ebersole rained down six 3s in 12 attempts going 4-for-8 from the arc for 16 points in the opening half. The Crusaders had 11 different players score at least two points each and put four players in double figures.Â
Tyra Roberts (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) scored 16 points,
Jenna Wolff (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) hit 3-of-4 from the 3-point arc and added 13, and
Brittany Young (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) scored 10.
Kaitlyn Yoh (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and Wollf scored five straight points for the Crusaders to spark an 11-4 run that pushed a two-point, Alvernia lead to nine points with 8:32 left in the first half. Ebersole knocked down a 3 to push the gap to 10 points for the first time, 28-18, and nailed another 3 for the last points of the half that put Alvernia up 43-28 at the break.
The lead hit 20 on an
Ann Walker (Warwick, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) bucket early in the second half and the Lions never threatened.
Alvernia opens up the conference schedule Tuesday at Stevenson University.
