Reading, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2013) - Alvernia University (1-0) opened up the 2013-14 women's tennis season with a 9-0 win over Cedar Crest College (2-4) Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at Angelica Park.

The Crusaders ran through three fairly easy wins in doubles action for a 3-0 lead in the match then took three of four singles matches in straight sets before cleaning up two final singles matches in a pro set.

Julie Seidel (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) teamed with Alyssa Boyd (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles then Seidel picked up a 0-0 win at No. 1 singles while Boyd took the No. 2 singles match 1-1.

Alvernia will continue the season next Tuesday at Penn State-Berks.
