BOX SCORE

Grantham, Pa. (Jan. 11, 2014) - Messiah College (8-5, 4-2) used a 24-5 run to build a 32-12 lead late in the first half and cruised to a 72-50 win over Alvernia University (4-9, 0-6) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at Brubaker Auditorium.

The Crusaders were within a point at 8-7 on a 3 from Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra), but the Falcons answered with a 3 that sparked a 12-minute run that put the hosts in control with three minutes left in the first half.

Alvernia was able to score the final six points of the first half to pull within 14 points at the break, 36-22, but couldn't cut the gap down to single digits in the second half.

Ebersole and Kaitlyn Yoh (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) led the Crusaders with 10 points apiece.  Messiah put four players in double figures led by Chelsea Danel who totaled 17.

The Crusaders look to get back on track Wednesday when they host Widener University at 6:00 p.m.
