Crusaders Stretch Win Streak To Four With Win Over Immaculata

Reading, Pa.  (Oct. 5, 2015) - Alvernia University (4-0) extended its win streak, defeating Immaculata University (6-2) by a 9-0 final Monday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Alvernia.

The Crusaders opened the day with a close 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles behind the team of Cassandra Noray and Emily Thek.  Both players then took their singles matches in straight sets with Noray winning No. 1 and Thek following with a win at No.3.

Amanda Philips and Lillian Hussar took the No. 2 doubles match, cruising to an 8-1 victory. Philips returned to the court for No. 2 singles, splitting with Immaculata's Kelly Gross 6-4 in the first two sets before sealing the win with an 11-9 third set tie break.

Cassandra Bean rounded out the day for Alvernia, winning in straight sets at No.4 singles.

The Crusaders earned their last three points on forfeit matches by the Mighty Macs.

Alvernia has a quick turn around, taking to the court again tomorrow at 4:00 as it travels to Bryn Mawr College for its last match before the the MAC Commonwealth Individual Championships this upcoming weekend.
