Reading, Pa. (Apr. 11, 2015) - Alvernia University (8-2, 3-0) swept through all six singles matches in an 8-1 win over Hood College (3-7, 2-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's tennis action at Mifflin Courts.
The Blazers were able to score a point at No. 1 doubles with an 8-4 win, but Alvernia took the early lead with a win at No. 3 and a 9-7 tiebreaker win at No. 2 doubles. The Crusaders then flew through the singles matches winning all six in straight sets and only dropping 19 total games over six matches.
Cassandra Noray and
Emily Thek both contributed to a pair of points for the Crusaders with wins in doubles and singles play.
Alvernia heads to Lebanon Valley on Tuesday to complete a halted match with the Dutchmen who lead 2-1 after doubles play. The singles were rained out. The match resumes starting at 5:00 p.m.
