Reading, Pa. (Apr. 17, 2015) - Alvernia University (10-3) swept through three doubles matches on the way to a 7-2 win over Bryn Mawr College (1-10) Friday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Angelica Park.
The Crusaders got 8-4 wins at both No. 1 and 3 doubles, and
Cassandra Noray and
Becca Perkins won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles for an early 3-0 lead.
Bryn Mawr came back with wins at No. 2 and 3 singles, but the Crusaders' depth came through as
Alyssa Boyd and
Jennifer Innamorato both pulled out 3-set wins at No. 4 and 5 singles, and
Emily Thek took a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
Julie Seidel won a pair of points teaming with
Jennifer Petrilla for the No. 1 doubles point then knocking off Melina Koukoutchos 0-1 at No. 1 singles.
The Crusaders travel to Eastern University next Wednesday before wrapping up the Commonwealth Conference schedule playing Lycoming next Saturday.
