St. Davids, Pa. (Apr. 23, 2015) - Alvernia University (11-3) racked up its 11th win of the season with an 8-1 win over Eastern University (2-11) Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Eastern.

It's the most wins for the Crusaders since the 2009 team went 12-4.

The Crusaders won all three doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead.  Julie Seidel and Maria Diosteanu took an 8-5 decision at No. 1 doubles and Becca Perkins teamed with Cassandra Noray for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, and Emily Thek and Kristy Schwenk earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Noray, Schwenk, Diosteanu, and Thek all won singles matches in straight sets at No. 2-5.  Xena Sperrazza earned a point with a 2-2 win at No. 6 singles.

Eastern's Laura Thomas earned the only point of the day for the Eagles with straight set win at No. 1 singles.

The Crusaders complete the regular season hosting Lycoming on Saturday.
