Annville, Pa. (May 2, 2015) - Second-seeded Alvernia University women's tennis defeated top-seeded Lebanon Valley College 5-1 to claim its first ever Commonwealth Conference Women's Tennis title Saturday afternoon at Lebanon Valley.
Less than a week after earning Conference Player of the Year honors, senior
Julie Seidel added Championship MVP. She teamed with
Jennifer Petrilla to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles then earning a second point with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.Â
Cassandra Noray also earned a pair of points teaming with
Becca Perkins to a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles then taking the No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-1.Â
Alyssa Boyd bounced back form an 8-6 defeat at No. 3 doubles to claim a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
The Crusaders qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time and will learn their first round opponent and location on Monday.
