Susquehanna, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2015) - Alvernia University (3-0) racked up its third win of the fall season with an 8-1 victory over Susquehanna University (1-0) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action at Susquehanna.
The Crusaders won in two out of three doubles matchups to jump out to a 2-1 lead.
Cassandra Noray and
Amanda Phillips took an 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles, while
Cassandra Bean teamed with
Emily Thek for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Alvernia then swept the singles matches, claiming wins in straight sets in four out of six matchups.Â
Lillian Hussar, Phillips, and Thek picked up straight sets at No. 2-4, with
Xena Sperrazza closing out the day in straight sets at No.6 singles.
Susquehanna's Kelly Furlong and Eliza Griffin earned the only point of the day for the home team with a 9-7 win in No. 2 doubles.
The Crusaders continue the non-conference schedule on Tuesday, hosting Cedar Crest College at 4:00.
